I believe speed limits should be increased on Illinois highways. In my research I found that the German autobahn, which has no speed limits, reported having less accidents and fewer fatalities than regular roads with speed limits. Raising the speeds will also provide more efficent travel rates because it is safe to assume going faster will get you to your destination faster.
Leo, Going faster does get you places faster, unless you crash. I've driven for over a year on majoy highways and have seen quite a few accidents. People drive without the awarness of others. Pay attention to the way people pull out into traffic, or stop at a red light, they are often not aware of the drivers they just cut off. Therefore, if speeds are increased and the awarness of people is not increased, then how can we expect there to be less accidents.
